Elder Gerrit W. Gong (Apr. '20): "Hosanna and Hallelujah-- The Living Christ: The Heart of Restoration and Easter

Explanation:

The ideas in this blog are meant to be used in small, home-like environments (2-5 people), although any of them could be adapted for other contexts.  I am also envisioning these activities as guided by a parent(s), but again that need not be the case.  For teaching ideas to use in Relief Society and Elders Quorum classes see my other blog here.

For Adults:

  1. Together, look through the talk and mark phrases about the Savior that stand out to you.
  2. Take a moment at each phrase and talk about why it is important.  As appropriate, share and invite others to share, personal experiences that highlight the meanings contained in these phrases.
  3. Read par. 24, again ("In these times . . . individually and together").
  4. Talk about how this phrase may come about in our lives.

For Teens/Tweens:

  1. Ask each person to silently read through the talk noting some of the blessings that we have because of Christ's atonement.
  2. Talk about what we have to do to have His promises be releveant to us.
  3. Read par. 4 ("He lives-- not . . . for our future).
  4. Talk about the comfort that this brings.  Also talk about how Satan wants us to feel/think about this truth and the consequences of believing Satan's lies.
  5. Together, create a list of everyday things that we can do to feel/remember God's love and His promises.

For Kids:

  1. With the kids read par. 4 ("He lives-- not . . . who are bruised").
  2. Ask the kids what this quote tells us about Jesus Christ.
  3. Share how the knowledge of those things you talked about in #2 makes you want to show God your love.
  4. Talk about what they might do to show God their love.
  5. Ask them to choose on thing they can do and draw a picture of it.  Have them hang their picture somewhere it can help them remember what they want to do.
