Explanation:
The ideas in this blog are meant to be used in small, home-like environments (2-5 people), although any of them could be adapted for other contexts. I am also envisioning these activities as guided by a parent(s), but again that need not be the case. For teaching ideas to use in Relief Society and Elders Quorum classes see my other blog here.
For Adults:
- Discuss the blessings we can receive from studying the Book of Mormon.
- Read par. 18 ("Through these and . . . to the world") and par. 21 ("I bear my . . . to know His Son, Jesus Christ").
- Mark and discuss the blessings that Elder Soares talks about in these passages.
- Take a moment to ponder times when you might have felt these or other blessings not already discussed.
For Teens:
- Read par. 20 ("I invite you . . . your own life").
- Explain that this coming forth continues for a lifetime and is all about discovering and growing a testimony.
- Read par. 16-19 ("I read the . . . book of scripture").
- Ask the teens to make 2 lists as they read this passage.
- What Elder Soares did/does to build his testimony.
- How/what he felt through the Spirit.
For Tweens/Kids:
- Read (or listen to) par. 3-14 ("The coming forth . . . this sacred book").
- As you read, make a list with the tweens/kids of the events Elder Soares highlights in the coming forth of the Book of Mormon.
- Discuss how these events were miraculous and talk about (answer) questions that anyone might have.
